literally blew up all the defenders

Since this is describing a videogame, I guess it would be possible, but I don’t think he really meant the defenders literally exploded:
Probably my favorite Nintendo game ever was Tecmo Bowl, and nothing beat running that Bo Jackson play with Oakland where Bo literally blew up all the defenders and ran for a touchdown every time. (Unless your friend had guessed that play, of course.)
I hunted down some video of Bo Jackson in Techmo Bowl, and I don’t see anyone exploding:

NY Jet’s Lawrence Taylor FTW! he could stop every punt & field goal and could sack an awful lot of QBs.

Ahahaha!
I heard a similar expression today. “My heart literally exploded out of my chest.” I was sympathetic of course, but what I really wanted to do was stare at her bosom and say “REEEALY!?”

In my freshman English composition class, there was this girl– an English major no less– who told me about the paper she had just written a couple of hours before class. She said, “I literally pulled it out of my butt.” When I pointed this out, she said something to the effect of “well, there are different degrees of literally.” I meant to say something like, “your paper stinks… literally,” but I kept it to myself.

I tried sending this to the literally e-mail address, but it came back to me and said that the e-mail doesn’t exist. Hmmm. So here’s what I said to you and the other blog writers that you link to…
Hello blog writers of awesomeness! I love all of y’all’s blogs! I just started one tonight about all of those bumper stickers, t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. with I Heart (just about anything) on them. I noticed that all of y’all link to each other on the sides of your page and was wondering if you would be willing to add my page to your list. I won’t be offended if you don’t. I have already put all of your pages on mine and intend on keeping them there because they are all so great. Keep up the great work everyone!
Thanks,
Ashley Sumners

Lawrence Taylor was a Giant, not a Jet.
