literally raise the roof

One of the most stellar qualities of the Playstation 3 is its standard Blu-ray optical drive or disc player. This device allows the game console to play high-definition movies in CD or DVD formats. With this feature, the Playstation 3 transcends its role from a mere video gaming device into a full-fledged entertainment apparatus that can literally raise the roof.

haha, that’s awesome. I can understand situations where it isn’t too much of a stretch to add “literally”, but… what?! Hydrolic roof-raising! That’s so next-gen!

No wonder the damn thing costs so much.

I love the graphic!

That could be handy, providing it also lowers the roof…carefully.

Well, it’s possible that they’re implying that the new system delivers really good sound quality. So that, if you were dumb enough and had good enough speakers, you could turn up your new Blu-ray disk to full volume and pieces could come off of a not well-put-together roof?

Awesome site. I have been annoyed by the word literally for quite some time now, correcting people on its misuses at least once a week.
Ex.
Idiot says “I literally knew he was going to win the draw”
I say “Could you not literally have known?” I understand what he meant, so its use doesn’t matter…but he figuratively knew…not literally, if he literally knew then it would have been a rigged draw…
I love the word, I love its proper use, makes anything sound very important…literally.

If you used the console as a shim under one of the joists, then it could literally raise the roof….
