The author of the linked site seems to have taken the criticism to heart and removed the offending word from the post. Actually.

The article describes the STORE as crawling, not the COPS. This is the basis of the post.

I literally love any blog that picks apart incorrect grammar. Glad I found you. I'm metaphorically beside myself with joy.

I freakin love this blog! I get LIVID when I hear people misuse the word. I just got the guy who wrote the Wal-mart article to correct his blog. "Cosmo", who feels he understands English, has embaressingly made another blunder. He went to his dictionary and looked up "crawling" while he SHOULD have looked up the word literally. Websters defines this term as:
1. in the literal or strict sense
2. in a literal manner; word for word: to translate literally.
3. actually; without exaggeration or inaccuracy
4. in effect; in substance; very nearly; virtually
This is a growing epedimic among people who use big words to sound important.

today in my english nine class we talked about this word and what would happen if we googled it and to see all of these sites about debates on if the word should have the mean changed from it's original meaning 'exactly' seeing this site and the things posted is truly something to look at

In any case, though the cops may have been crawling, the store certainly wasn't.

"Crawling" doesn't always imply being on hands and knees.

per the American Heritage Dictionary:

CRAWL

2. To advance slowly, feebly, laboriously, or with frequent stops.

If that doesn't describe cops, I don't know what does. ;)
