Nice blog.
My favourite of these came about six months ago, when a BBC Radio presenter described Tony Blair as having “literally turned himself into a lame duck.”
Which was an amusing mental image if nothing else.

Hyperbole. Also, you have misused the word ‘grammar’. This blog is not about grammar, it is about semantics.
