Melting the maximus is generally the lady's exercisal (?) intent. Obviously she couldn't sweat her ass through her pores, but in her context, "literally" is most reasonably interpreted to refer solely to the expression "i ____ed my ass off", which is usually an obvious hyperbole, but in this case is only a mild exaggeration.
