The actual headline was “Suspect Sought In Robbery, Hand Mutilation. Woman Loses Finger In Struggle With Thief” but the weird news website Fark.com turned it into the following:

Elderly woman literally gives robber the finger

Technically she didn’t give him the finger, but I think this is quite appropriate.

Bravo, Fark.com.

   Knock yourself out. What would you suggest as a replacement: “The original headline”? Although that seems to imply that the newspaper changed their own headline. Maybe “genuine” but for some reason I think of the Beverly Hillbillies when using that word. I guess I’ll stick with “actual”.
