An angler since he can remember, Mark Hodson almost literally lives, eats and breathes fishing.

First of all, don’t wimp out and say “almost literally” — that’s admitting defeat before you even begin.

The figure of speech is typically “eat, drink, and breathe”. For example, “I eat, drink, and breathe blogging”, meaning that I am very enthusiastic about this activity and it takes up much of my time.

Another figure of speech is to “live for” something. For example, “I live for horse racing”, meaning that it is by far my favorite activity (and presumably forms the basis for my continuing existence).

I guess you can “almost literally” eat fishing (considering that you can eat the fish), but I defy anyone to breathe fishing.
